Stage 2 water restrictions
In accordance with Gunnison upper valley water managers and the Buckhorn Ranch Water Company, as of August 18th 2026, we are currently in severe drought stage 2 water restrictions. .
This means
- Lawn Sprinkler systems: Sunday only
- Hand-Watering and Drip Systems: Watering trees, shrubs, and vegetable gardens by hand (using a hose with a shut-off nozzle) is permitted on Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday only.
- No washing of driveways, sidewalks, buildings, windows, or vehicles.
- Fines will be imposed for noncompliance. Submit report HERE
- Watering hours: 5AM to 10am only
Water restrictions are necessary this year due to a record low precipitation/snowpack over the 2025/2026 winter. Additionally, our aquifer water level has dropped by 20 feet in recent weeks.
Our current usage is on average 80,000 gallons per day. In order to keep water available flowing for regular household use, we need to reduce our usage by one third, or approximately 25,000 gallons per day. We will be providing weekly updates on usage.
Your cooperation is vital in keeping our most valuable resource available. Please do your part by following the rules laid out so we can all continue to use our shared water resources equitably.
